Further to last week's concerns about building on flood plains, I offer the following thoughts:

Developments on flood plains occur without pause, And due to the weather and its physical laws, A problem by more and more building's been caused.

'I have the answer, ' called a man with firm jaws.

Said the structural engineer, 'I'll manage this, 'Somehow I'll make those flood waters miss.

'Build three-storey houses with ground floor garages, 'Then soon we'll not need those expensive barrages!' 'No wait, ' his managing director did cry, 'Build houses on stilts - that'll keep people dry.

'The legs we'll design so they withstand the flood, 'And a small fee we'll charge while doing some good.'
