MANAGEMENT OF Engineering Construction Contract (ECC) projects can be made easier, it is claimed, with online contract change management (CMM) software from Needlemans MPS.
The software tracks information flows from project managers' instructions, early warnings and compensation events and, because the ECC processes are completely embedded in the software, users have no choice but to follow the correct procedures and there are no excuses for late responses to actions.
'The ECC is basically a procedure for managing contracts.
CCM is a tool that ensures the procedure is followed, ' explains operations director Robin Wilkin.
'There are over 150 processes in the ECC, all of which we have replicated.'
CCM was originally launched in March as a client server based application. It is now available as a fully online service, with all data held on a secure server by Needlemans' IT managed services provider Xaman. Information is accessed using a standard web browser.
CCM is now being piloted on several major civils projects across the UK, with the Environment Agency set to use it on a multi-million scheme in the East Midlands due to begin early next year.
Consultant WSP will try the software on a £2M Area 9 Highways Agency contract, and London Electricity Services will pilot it on one of its projects on Section 2 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
