Flag goes down at Donington

Donington Park was given the green light to proceed with planned circuit developments this week, which will enable the venue to host the 2010 British Formula One Grand Prix.

North West Leicestershire District Council granted permission for the first stage of improvements which includes new pits, media centre and hospitality suites as well as realignment, widening and extension of existing track, two new vehicle access tunnels and widening of a pedestrian tunnel.

Planning and design is now complete and Dudley-based contractor Amphion Construction has been appointed.

German consultant Tilke carried out the design work on the buildings and the circuit.
