Five invited to bid for Midlands highways maintenance contract

Five firms or teams comprising Carillion, Balfour Beatty/Mott MacDonald, Atkins/Skanska, Amey and Enterprise Mouchel have been invited to tender for the Highways Agency Asset Support Contract (ASC) for Area 9, the Agency revealed today.

ASC 9 will cover routes within the counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Derbyshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, and Shropshire and the Metropolitan Boroughs of Walsall, Sandwell and Dudley and the City Of Birmingham.

The ASC is designed to replace the Agency’s existing Managing Agent Contractor (MAC) maintenance contracts, but the early contracts have been beset by delays.
