Five firm shortlist for Tottenham Court Road Tube station upgrade

Transport for London has announced that five firms are in the running to carry out main construction work for London Underground at Tottenham Court Road Tube station.

Tenders are due to be returned by the end of June with the contract due to be awarded in November. Main construction work is due to start early next year. Construction for the new Crossrail station at Tottenham Court Road will be let separately by Crossrail.

The shortlisted firms are:

  • Balfour Beatty
  • Morgan Est
  • Taylor Woodrow
  • A Skanska-Mace joint venture
  • A Costain, Laing O’Rourke and Bachy Soletanche joint venture

Work has been underway since January to prepare compulsorily purchased properties for demolition to make way for the redevelopment of the station. Interiors of the properties are being stripped and cleared so physical demolition can get underway in mid to late May. TfL said it anticipates that demolitions will be complete by late October.
