Fitting conclusion

The winding up of Westpile last year shocked the industry.

Yet 12 months on the firm is back, under new ownership, with £3.5M turnover and £7M forecast for next year. Bachy Soletanche has taken Westpile under its wing - the firm is being managed by Bachy's Julian Gatwood, with Westpile's veteran estimating manager John Gedge looking after technical affairs.

The two aim to grow turnover up to £15M in the next five years.

The fit between Bachy and Westpile is a comfortable one, Gatwood says. Bachy's focus is on high profile, high value jobs across the UK, while Westpile's expertise is in smaller jobs in the South East and south Wales.
