Firms scoop Queen’s Awards

Three civil engineering firms are among 145 national businesses who have been given prestigious Queens Awards this week.

Consultant Scott Wilson, formwork and falsework specialist RMD Kwikform and corrosion protection and sealing expert Winn & Coales all won awards in the international trade category at a time when overseas markets are proving crucial.

Scott Wilson was praised for doubling its international earnings to £112M over six years; RMD for increasing it overseas business by 185% over six years to £154M ; and Winn & Coales for exporting 80% of its products worldwide

The awards bring new commercial value and increased recognition overseas.

“It is important for us,” said Scott Wilson chairman Geoff French, “because we have been telling the City that we have been growing rapidly abroad and this is independent verification. And it is recognition that our strategy to develop as a global business is working.”

RMD Kwikform divisional managing director Steven Dance said: “What we have done as a business is successfully adapt to the changing global landscape.”
