Firm takes plunge for £18M contract

Graham Construction has landed a contract to build an £18M leisure centre in Glenrothes for Fife District Council.

Work is expected to get under way this month on the swimming pool, gym and artificial pitches complex, which will see a 25m eight-lane competition-level pool and a gallery housing a possible 250 spectators.

A 20m training pool with a moveable floor will also be constructed, with a changing area and health suite also part of the plans.

A gym including 80 stations will also be build, incorporating an aerobics studio, badminton court, sports hall and squash facilities.

Outdoors, there will be a full-size 11-a-side artificial pitch along with three five-a-side pitches as well as a seven-a-side pitch and athletics track.
