FIRE AND WATER

Plymouth contractor Seastructures is replacing Falmouth's timber Queen's Wharf which was destroyed by fire. The £3.75M contract involves salvaging a dockside crane which fell into the sea during the blaze. The replacement structure comprises precast deck beams and an insitu concrete deck slab resting on 120, 30m long 750mm diameter piles. Work is being carried out to a tight five month programme which includes demolition of the fire damaged structure.
