Ferry important

Letters

I was very impressed by the speed with which a fixed link appears to have been provided between the Scottish western islands of Eriskay and Barra (NCE last week). There was no sign of any work having been started when I was on Barra in September!

At the time, however, work was in progress at each end of a causeway being constructed between Eriskay and South Uist.

I presume this to be the fixed link to which reference is made.

If so, visitors to the islands should be aware they will still need to arrange a ferry to reach Barra.
