Femern prepares to launch £4bn tunnel scheme

Project promoter Femern will begin prequalification of firms bidding for the construction of the €5.5bn (£4.4bn) Fehmarnbelt road and rail link next month.

Femern will begin the first stage of the bidding process in early October when it publishes its notice in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Some of world’s largest construction companies are expected to bid for work constructing a 19km immersed tunnel between Germany and Denmark.

Prequalified firms will then have access to the tender documents during the course of 2013.
