Fellow talk

Letters

Following the recent article in NCE describing the Ceremony of the Calling of an Engineer (Fellowship of the Ring, NCE 5 February), we are pleased to report a very positive response.

A significant number of engineers of all disciplines and classes have expressed an interest in promoting this concept further.

We are now looking into what would be needed to create the first 'Camp' in the UK. To create a ceremony that is appropriate to the 21st century, we have already approached the Royal Society of Literature to seek advice, and we understand that this will be discussed at its Council meeting in March.

We will distribute a newsletter on progress to all those who contact us by e-mail.
