Fears for the subs

Letters

Recent correspondence in your letters pages regarding subscription levels, including the letter from the ICE director general (NCE 22 January), has raised serious issues. I waited until receiving my copy of The Route to Revitalisation in expectation that all my concerns would be addressed: unfortunately, they are not.

Although the ICE has adopted a business plan approach which I applaud, there is no mention within The Route to Revitalisation or in the director general's letter of the need to seek the approval of members before proceeding with the business plan.

I believe that seeking such a vote on the business plan, which relies on successive members' subscription increases, is in the spirit of how the members wish the ICE to develop. I also believe it is provided for within the by-laws of the Institution and is therefore essential before implementation.
