Fault on a transformer the cause of loss of power


A fault on a transformer was responsible for cutting power to 60,000 homes in Merseyside last week.

Scottish Power, which operates the substation, told NCE that a minor fire broke out at 7.30am. Emergency services were at the scene very quickly and there were no injuries. The fault also affected trafc lights on roads into Liverpool.
