Fatal landslide destroys homes in Bosnia

A landslide in Bosnia has killed one person and left another three injured.

According to reports, several homes were destroyed following a slope failure in the central Bosnian town of Kakanj. The failure caused seven homes to slide approximately 500m down the slope.

The properties are thought to have been built illegally on the land which is above a disused coal mine.

Following the closure of the coal mine 50 years ago, the area was considered to be too unstable to be built on.
