False start to walkway code talks

The meeting this week between health & safety minister Angela Eagle and former ICE president David Green to discuss funding for a structural code for the design of ship to shore walkways ended inconclusively after confusion over the source of previous funding for maritime codes.

Green and Donald Evans, a member of the British Standards Institution drafting committee on maritime

codes, are to resolve the matter at a meeting with civil servants at the ICE before approaching Eagle again in the next few weeks.
