Fair weather graces industry’s regatta

Glorious sunshine and strong winds gave construction industry sailors near perfect conditions for the 2009 Little Britain Challenge Cup regatta in Cowes on the Isle of Wight last week.

Some 130 yachts and over 1,000 crew members representing firms working across the construction industry took part in the event. Contractor Mitie finished as overall regatta winner having dominated its cruising class.

Specialist subcontractor Stone and Ceramic Warehouse came in second overall having won the Class 3 Racing fleet.

Capita Symonds’ boat (pictured), skippered by managing director Jonathan Goring and with NCE editor Antony Oliver in the crew, finished third overall in the highly competitive Class 1.
