Energy secretary Ed Davey has this week approved the extension of the 30 turbine Vattenfall Kentish Flats wind farm.
Up to 17 new turbines will be added to the wind farm, which has been operational since 2005. The extension is expected to enable the farm to power the equivalent of 96,000 homes.
“As well as providing large amounts of clean energy, offshore wind will support jobs and generate major investment up and down the country,” said Davey.
“Vattenfall’s decision to extend an existing project reflects the ongoing attractiveness of the UK as a place to do business in renewable energy.”
