Exhibition inhibition

I recently visited the Design Museum's excellent exhibition of the Brunels' lives and work and on leaving, noticed with some surprise that it was sponsored by Railtrack.

This led me to look a little further at the list of donors, but nowhere to be seen was there any mention of the Institution of Civil Engineers (or for that matter the Mechanicals or Naval Architects).

What is wrong with us as engineers? We are always complaining of being underpaid and unappreciated in comparison with other professions and yet when there is an opportunity to blow our own trumpet, we do precisely nothing.
