Essay to stay

ESSAY WRITING is to remain a core part of the Professional Review, though there will only be one.

Council backed recommendations from Professional Development Committee to retain the essay, on a subject familiar to the candidate, which include a wider social context.

Council felt this would more appropriately demonstrate individual ability of a candidate than 'learning' and regurgitating one of the present 32 set essays.

President George Fleming had questioned before Christmas whether essay writing was not critical to assessing whether a candidate was worthy of ICE membership.

But professional reviewers were overwhelmingly in favour of retaining the essay at their annual meeting and PD Committee bowed to their knowledge.
