Environmental and hydraulic engineering contractor Bitumar

Environmental and hydraulic engineering contractor Bitumar is installing 40,000m2 of 2mm HDPE liner at a landfill at Cours-au-Bois near Brussels in Belgium.

The Antwerp based firm has already installed 40,000m2 of the liner at the site on an earlier contract in 1996 for client Biffa, part of the Severn Trent group.

The three-month contract began in August. The 75m long slope is at 36degrees to maximise landfill capacity. Because it is so steep, workers have had to use climbing equipment to install the liner.
