Tell us your highlights while at uni, and what you have achieved so far in your first post grad job, and leave the rest to us. Modesty is not a virtue in this competition and all our previous finalists were genuinely amazed at winning through.

If you graduated anytime in 2008 you are eligible. Tell us your highlights while at uni, and what you have achieved so far in your first post grad job, and leave the rest to us. Modesty is not a virtue in this competition and all our previous finalists were genuinely amazed at winning through.

The NCE 2009 Graduate Awards were launched on 23 July and entries are accepted until 22 September.

The 2009 awards are open to anyone who graduated from an ICE accredited civil, structural – or related – engineering first degree course, or MSc postgraduate course, during 2008.

The MSc must have followed on directly after the first degree without a gap between the two courses. A graduate currently pursuing any other relevant post graduate degree is also eligible so long as the first, or MSc degree, was completed in 2008.

Entrants will be judged on all round ability; not only academic and work related achievements but also their enthusiasm for civil engineering.

Entries should be submitted by the graduate and include a commendation from either a company training officer or a relevant senior engineer.

Company training officers are asked to encourage a wide range of their graduates to enter - not just selected favourites.

Entries will be judged by a panel of senior engineers drawn from the awards’ sponsors and up to six shortlisted candidates invited to meet the judges in early November this year. These shortlisted candidates will be invited to the awards’ presentation lunch in December.

All finalists will get a certificate. The winner will receive a specially commissioned trophy and £1000. Two runners’ up will each receive £500 and three highly commended candidates £250.

For general enquiries about the awards scheme, please contact: David Hayward, Awards Secretary. Tel: 01325 461149 email: hayward.david@virgin.net.
