Mark Whitby (NCE 29 June) is saddened by engineers not rallying round the beleaguered Millennium bridge engineers. Fair enough, but neither must we conspire against the laity.

Presenting facts and explanations without rhetoric seems increasingly difficult and so pundits exchanging pros and cons may be one way to keep the problem in check.
