Engineers 'under-represented' on Olympic design interview panel

CONSULTANTS THIS week questioned the way in which London's Olympic Park design contract was being procured.

No timetable has been given for the rest of the tender process and fi ms were told to bid both as consortiums and as individual companies.

One commented on the 'strange choice' of individuals on the interviewing panel.

'Considering there's around £900M worth of engineering work up for grabs, there was only one engineer on the 10 strong panel, ' said one.

It is understood that the panel also comprised Greater London Authority procurement officials and architects.

He added that the London Development Agency (LDA) was not represented on the panel even though it is overseeing the tender process.

The LDA refused to say who was on the panel.
