Engineers still valued by VSO

Letters

I can tell Chris Lewis (NCE 20 July) that VSO still appreciates us and posts about 15 to 20 civil engineers every year in developing countries.

My two years in the mid1970s spent as a VSO volunteer building roads in Sierra Leone were among the most professionally fulfilling and personally satisfying of my career.

My time since then as a selector (of volunteers) confirms that VSO continues to be a great organisation and a positive motor for development, of both the volunteers it posts and the countries it works in.

If you can accept that there's more to life than your salary, do not hesitate - ring VSO on (020) 8780 7500.
