Engineers sample a taste of Poland

AUTHENTIC POLISH food, drink and culture drew a crowd of more than 50 engineers from across the North West recently to learn about life, work and environmental issues in central and eastern Europe.

The evening was arranged by the North West Graduates in support of the Central and Eastern Europe Initiative and to help fund a trip to Poland by six young engineers next year.

Presentations gave insight into working in Poland while ICE international vice president Brian Crossley spoke about the ICE's international initiatives.

However, the major attraction was the chance to win a bottle of genuine Polish vodka for just 50p. This was followed by a charity auction to raise cash for the delegates going to Poland later this year.

A cheque for ú2,000 from QUEST was handed over by Crossley to CEEI chair, Victoria Edmondson, while ú500 was pledged by the ICE from its Poland budget.
