Engineers ignored in Stirling ceremony

Letters

I watched with interest the recent RIBA Stirling Building of the Year award ceremony on Channel 4 curious to see a national TV programme covering our industry.

While I was pleased to see such coverage, I was dismayed but not surprised, at the lack of mention of a single engineering firm.

I do not wish to understate the architectural accomplishment of all of the competition entries, but praise for achievement should be to all parties involved.

We cannot rely on other organisations to promote our profession for us. A profession struggling to enhance its perception by the public must ensure that publicity opportunities reaching a wide audience are utilised to the full.

Come on, don't let everyone else take all the praise!
