Engineers ignorant about new CDM roles

ENGINEERS LACK understanding of their responsibilities under the revised Construction (Design & Management) regulations, which come into force next year, according to an NCE online poll.

This is among the early results of NCE's on-line Construction (Design & Management) regulations survey, which also shows that engineers have good awareness about impending changes.

With just over a week to go before the survey closes and the full results are published, some 93% of respondents say that they are aware that revisions to the regulations come into force next year.

But only 52% say that they understand the new responsibilities of duty holders under the revised regulations.

This compares to 83% who say that they were clear about responsibilities under the existing regulations.
