Engineers have been honoured in the Queen's 2007 New Year's Honours list. Dr David Wynford Williams, lately the national Hydrographer and Chief Executive of the UK Hydrographic Office, part of the Ministry of Defence, was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath (a CB).
Several engineers received CBEs (Commander of the Order of the British Empire), including Stanhope director Peter Rogers and Stef Stefanou, chair of contractor John Doyle Group, Professor Haig Gulvanessian, lately director of the construction division, Building Research Establishment. Professor John Douglas Perkins, Vice-President and Dean of Manchester University's faculty of engineering and physical sciences also received a CBE for his services to science and engineering, as did Roger Madelin, joint Chief Executive of Argent Group plc, for services to sustainable development.OBEs went to Kevin O'Sullivan, chair of WSP subsidiary O'Sullivan & Graham, for his services to civil engineering overseas, and Dipesh Jayantilal Shah, lately chief executive officer of the UK Atomic Energy Authority, for his services to the energy industry.OBEs also went to ICE Wales vice-chairman Alun Griffiths; and for services to engineering and technology education, Arkwright Scholarships Trust national manager Linda Scott.Philip William Russell, management board member of the Workers' Safety Advisor Challenge Fund was awarded an MBE for services to health and safety in the construction industry. Peter Bernard Forsdick, of London Underground's distribution services management, received an MBE for services to Public Transport.Did we miss anyone off this list?
