Engineering event for all the family

EAST MIDLANDS association is hoping to have a strong presence at an engineering 'Open Day' at the Midlands Engineering Centre on 6 June.

The joint initiative among engineering organisations will be a gathering for engineers

and their families to get together with engineers of other disciplines.

'We set out to put together an event which would be useful to engineers of all backgrounds throughout the Midlands,' said centre manager Alison Forsyth, who is organising the event.

'Visitors will be able to meet other engineers and see something of engineering in the Midlands. They can also experience the outstanding facilities at Austin Court which was set up for use by the whole engineering community,' said Forsyth.

Taking part along with ICE will be the British Computing Society, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, Engineering Council, Institute of Marine Engineers, Institute of Measurement & Control, Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Institution of Chemical Engineers, Institution of Electrical Engineers, the Royal Aeronautical Society and the Engineering Employers Federation.

Visitors with their families will be welcome any time between 9.30am and 5.30pm.

More information is available from Alison Forsyth, tel: (0121) 600 7500.
