Emissions targets

General Election

Quinn, Howard and Kennedy all promise renewed efforts to meet pollution reduction targets agreed under the Kyoto protocol. Howard says emission trading is the key, as are efforts to develop alternative renewable energy sources to wind farms.

Kennedy believes clean coal and nuclear technologies could be developed further. Quinn wants Britain to use its chairmanship of the G8 group of leading industrial nations to press for greater global efforts to cut pollution.
