Embankment collapse closes Highland rail line

Heavy rain is believed to have caused a landslip on an earth embankment on the Aviemore to Inverness rail line this morning.

Reports suggest that the embankment collapse occurred close to Slochd and rail services were halted soon after the incident.

Network Rail engineers are reported to be assessing the damage and Scotrail has said that bus services will replace trains on the section until at least 1 May.
