EIC sets green action plan

ENVIRONMENTAL INDUSTRIES Commission (EIC) launched a policy manifesto for the UK environment industry in the run up to the General Election this month.

The policy sets out an action plan for the new Parliament to realise the potential of the UK's green industries. It calls on the next government to provide a package of support measures to the industry and challenges it to set high environmental protection standards to fight pollution of the land, air and watercourses.

The proposal follows a recent commitment by Prime Minister to lead a new green technology drive. 'Green technologies are on the verge of becoming one of the next waves in the knowledge economy revolution. . . .I want Britain to be a leading player in this coming green industrial revolution, 'said Tony Blair.
