Edinburgh residents begin voting

Edinburgh residents begin voting this week on a plan to introduce congestion charging to the city, a scheme that would mirror London's scheme brought in two years ago.

Edinburgh City Council has posted thousands of ballots to residents, asking them to approve or reject a proposed £2 per vehicle levy to drive in the city centre on weekdays. It estimates the charge would raise £760M over 20 years.

Results of the ballot are expected on 22 February.
