EC Harris man joins HS2

EC Harris chief Colin Morris has landed a senior role on the £43bn HS2 project.

Morris was appointed by project promoter High Speed 2 Ltd as programme delivery strategic director.

At EC Harris, he worked with the Saudi government on a number of high profile projects including multi-modal transport systems in Jeddah and plans for 12 football stadiums.

He will be joined at HS2 by Foster Wheeler Energy divisional manager Jonathan Crone, who becomes director of the programme management office on the rapid rail link.

Both will report directly to HS2 director of programme and strategy Alistair Kirk.

High Speed 2 Ltd chief executive Simon Kirby said: “I’m really pleased to welcome Jonathan and Colin to the team.

“HS2 will soon become one Europe’s largest infrastructure projects and their experience of delivering highly complex projects on time and on budget will be essential as we prepare for the start of construction in January 2017.”

Work on HS2 is ramping up this year, with prequalification for nine major contracts on phase one expected to begin in the coming months.
