East London Line

News :

Plans for two southerly extensions to the East London Line were approved this week by transport secretary Stephen Byers. Powers are being granted to London Underground to extend the line southwards in two directions.

The first 2.5km extension, which includes construction of a new station at Surrey Canal Road, will connect to Railtrack's South London Line. The second will join up with the Croydon line.
