Dull of kin tires

The 'personal views' section of the candidates for Council profiles in NCE last week was certainly a revelation. What a dull, unoriginal, witless, passionless bunch we civil engineers are.

Best invention: over 50% plumped for the computer or mobile phone; runner-up: lasers. Favourite song: sorry guys, Memory or Bridge over Troubled Water are not a favourite song of anyone who actually likes music. Favourite book: an encyclopaedia (! - ); or the usual dull fantasy stuff; and, sorry again, but 'anything by. . .' just shows that you don't really care. Hobbies: model railways-golf?

Where are the original, passionate, creative personalities who will lead the ICE proudly into the 21st century- Hobbies: performing arts; favourite song: New Order;best invention: the NHS; now we're talking.

Clive Earl, (M), 16 Firs Avenue, London N10
