Ductility codes already available

Letters

Good news; we don't have to wait two years or find 'essential research funding' to have recommendations on ductile joint design (NCE 5 September). Seismic design guides and codes developed in California and New Zealand over the past 30 to 40 years provide a wealth of guidance on both steel and concrete connections. These should have been used in the aftermath of Ronan Point let alone the Twin Towers.
