Double win for Strabag on Vienna metro extension

Strabag has been appointed the civil engineering, tunnelling and ground engineering contracts on sections nine and 10 on extension of Vienna’s U1 metro line by Wiener Linien.

Strabag’s contracts, valued at a combined total of €90M, will extend the line to Altes Landgut and Troststrasse and are scheduled to be completed by May 2016. Strabag has said that work on site will start next month.

The contracts awarded to Strabag are part of a larger project to extend the U1 line from Reumannplatz station to Oberlaa , creating a direct link between the densely populated areas of the Per-Albin-Hansson-Siedlung housing estate and the city centre  .
