Specialists in filibustering and disruption of public meetings are asked to sharpen their wit and show themselves at the divisional rounds of the NCE Communications Competition.

Teams have to prepare a presentation supporting a fictional scenario, such as a road scheme or town centre redevelopment, and deliver it to a mock public meeting.

To make it all as realistic as possible, audience participation is not so much welcomed as demanded. Twelve divisional rounds of 40-plus entrants will be whittled down to 12 for three regional rounds in late April.

The competition culminates in the final in June, with prizes totalling £1,000 to be won.

The divisional rounds are: E Midlands: Kegworth, 20 Feb, London: London, 19 Feb, N Ireland: Belfast, 12 Feb, North West: Warrington, 13 Feb, Scotland (1): Perth, 22 Feb, Scotland (2): Glasgow, date TBC, S East: Tunbridge Wells, 21 Feb, Southern: Southampton, 20 Feb, South Wales: Cardiff, 14 Feb, South West: Exeter, 22 Feb, W Midlands: Birmingham, 19 Feb.
