Do not dismiss qualifications lightly

Letters

As a yachtsman as well as an engineer I thoroughly enjoyed the article on the catamaran Team Philips (NCE 14 September) but I couldn't help a wry smile at Barry Noble's proud declaration that he never had any formal education and learned his engineering by practical means.

Do not dismiss those of us with qualifications too readily, Barry. Remember that Team Philips failed! !
