Everyone at London & Continental Railways was celebrating the successful opening of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link on Tuesday (see News). But Diary was interested to discover that LCR nearly adopted a very different moniker. Initial plans were to call the organisation Sirius - a high flying, far seeing sounding title - until one of the member companies pointed out that they could be haunted by the not-good-for-business nickname 'you cannot be Sirius'.
