Delhi Metro line 5 opens

The Delhi Metro has further expanded with the opening of line 5, which will be the first standard gauge line of the network.

Otherwise known as the green line, the 15.1km corridor reduces travel time from Inderlok to Mundka to 29 minutes, compared to 90 minutes by road.

A 3.3km branch line of Line 5 will open later this year, which will run from Ashok Park Main to Kirti Nagar and feature two additional stations. Line 6 – a 20.2km line from Central Secretariat to Badarpur, including 4 underground stations, 12 stations on elevated viaduct and one depot at Sarita Vihar – is scheduled to open at the same time.
