DELETE_Night time lifts get M1 widening going

Contractor Balfour Beatty/Skanska lifts a 76t precast concrete beam into place as part of its work to widen the M1 motorway between junctions 6A and 10.
In total £500,000 of custom-designed precast concrete beams are being manufactured and supplied by Tarmac for the construction of 12 bridge structures that form part of the £290M scheme. Around 183 beams spanning between 10m and 28m have been specially designed by Tarmac Precast, but the 76t, 28m-span beam pictured is one of the largest in the Tarmac's Y beam range. The beams
were positioned at night using a 1,000t crane
