Defra publishes real-time online monitor of its energy use

Defra has begun publishing real-time online data on its energy use at its London headquarters.

The data shows exactly how much energy is being used, in real time.

The online tool captures and displays energy information with updates every five seconds providing an overview of the department’s energy consumption, cost and carbon dioxide emissions.

The move is part of a drive to ensure that Defra is transparent about the amount and cost of energy use within the department.

The energy performance data generated will help to raise awareness amongst Defra staff and provides a further incentive to reduce our energy use.

All government departments have committed to publishing their real-time energy usage in support of the Prime Minister’s pledge for this to be the greenest government ever.
