Dean & Dyball

Hyder Consulting and contractor Dean & Dyball have won the design and build contract to build a new foot and cycle bridge over the River Rheidol in Aberystwyth. Client Ceredigion County Council specified that the bridge be a 67m long cable stayed structure, and the winning design comprises a two span asymmetrical structure with a single steel tower standing on a reinforced concrete pier a third of the way across the river. The pier will rest on an insitu reinforced concrete capping slab cast onto sheet piled foundations.
