DBO go ahead on landfill leachate

Land & Water Remediation has a £760,000 design, build and operate contract for the remediation of Stewards Brook at St Michaels Golf Course in Widnes.The firm, working for Halton Borough Council, will realign a river, construct an impermeable cut-off wall and collector drain and build a permeable reactive barrier to treat leachate on the former landfill.

Design partners on the 10 month project, due to start on site in late 2004, are Babtie Group and Queens University, Belfast.
