This is a fine looking bridge, which the locals will be proud of.
This report and its conclusions are clear and concise, unlike the non-committal Hackitt review. Perhaps some engineers these days are incapable of reading public opinion and leading the way. Anybody going to bother to respond? No?
Yes James, it does beggar belief. How could the design engineers not understand the relevance or criticality of these cracks? Also, how did those engineers manage to convince the relevant authorities it was safe to work on the bridge without diverting the traffic? Or were they not shown these particular photos? Something is beginning to stink in the state of Florida.
"2013 Section 20 of the London Building Acts 1939 was repealed to streamline and removed unnecessary burden of the building industry to comply with onerous requirements."
This paragraph says it all really. The words unnecessary and onerous show how the minds of the management in the building industry work. All they can think about is making a fast buck and to hell with public safety.
I hope those responsible will be prosecuted, but as I said last year, they will probably find some rock to hide under. I certainly do not think the lawmakers will ever come under any personal criticism. They have too many friends in high places.
Is Doug related to Boris?
