Dauncey appointed new Highways Agency financial director

Steve Dauncey has been promoted to finance director for the Highways Agency.

Dauncey has been with the Agency for three years, having previously worked in the both the civil and defence nuclear industries for 14 years.

In his new post, Dauncey will manage delivery of the Agency's £6.5bn operational and capital programme, and drive through increasing levels of efficiency.

His first job will be to provide increased cash to fund the programme of work brought forward by the Chancellor in his Pre Budget Report.

Chief executive of the Highways Agency Graham Dalton said: "I am delighted to welcome Steve to the Highways Agency Board. He will bring to the role a sound understanding of the Agency's operations as well as wider experience from the private sector."

Dauncey will take up his new post on 1 February 2009.
