Graduate profile Freya Murray
After graduating in structural engineering with Architectural Design from Heriot-Watt University, Freya spent the summer as a full time athlete attempting to qualify for the Commonwealth Games. "Unfortunately I wasn't successful, and so I started looking for a job. I had seen Cundall featured in a previous NCE Graduate supplement. I wanted to work for a company where I could become chartered and this combined with Cundall's variety of disciplines and projects were the main reasons why I chose the practice" explains Freya.
"When I left university I felt I lacked practical experience, but I have been given the opportunity to gain that knowledge here. It has helped me to understand the theory I learnt and the projects I have worked on have given me a lot more confidence in what I am doing. There is always someone there to help, if I need it," says Freya. "Seeing things in real life helps them to make sense. Cundall has given me the opportunity to work on a range of projects and spend time on site as well." Freya is aiming to become chartered, and has support and guidance from Cundall. "I have regular updates with my mentor and the senior engineer that I work with. They help me to ensure that I am undertaking what I need to for my training and to assist me in achieving my objectives".
